Outta this World

A gift for my nephew, a cloth name book. My first cloth book project, though I have been dreaming them up in my head for a while. I am proud to say it is a total original design, not following any patterns. I am quite pleased with the final project, not to toot my own horn, but BEEP-BEEP!
The pages are made of various flannel printed material. The designs are cut out of felt and sewn onto the pages. A blue tag ribbon was put at the top, not only for baby fun, but also to be function in case "linking" the book onto something is needed. Each of the pages has the added crinkle effect for baby's pleasure. The book is 8-pages. Since my nephew's name only has a 4-letters, it gave me 4-pages make themed designs. It was fun to be creative with the outer space theme.
page 1 cover: rocket ship blasting off
page 2: alien
page 3: K
page 4: Y
page 5: L
page 6: E
page 7: space ship with a ray beaming up
page 8 back cover: planet, moon & star
I created a "by" tag using a gel fabric pen on a piece of yellow flannel.
The yellow tag on the left indicates it's a So AnnieBanannie original.
If you open the front & back cover up it creates a little space scene!
I am very proud of this project and see more to come.
I sure hope Kyle likes it as much as I do!

Of course the sound isn't transfering with the video for some reason so you can't hear the crinkle effect I am trying to point out. But at least you can see the pages turning in action and get a relative idea of the size.

Halloween Hoopla

A couple projects I made in October that I wanted to share.
We were going to a dinner party. Instead of taking a typical bottle of wine, I decide to make a little something for the hosts' 10-month old daughter.
The body is made out of white fleece, facial features are cut from black felt & sewn on with black thread. The bow is pink ribbon with black polk-a-dots. The body is also crinkle with a layer of cellophane underneath the fleece. The yellow SoAnnieBanannie tag, which makes it a true original.
A crinkle pumpkin ball for a 4-month old friend. Made from orange fleece with cellophane to crinkle underneath & a triple ribbon to resemble the "stem & leaves."
I'm especially proud of the ghost because it really was a true original design I created (no pattern followed). And the pumpkin ball was so loved. All the other babies in the daycare were so jealous the provider went out to try to find something similar for the others.

He likes it! He likes it!

While the kids were napping today this little elf was sewing away; making a ball for her baby.
Complete with a row of taggie ribbons. He likes it! He likes it!
"Hey mama, go long!"
Lucia has taken fancy to Emilio's new ball. I see another one coming in the near future.

Booty Wipes

Cloth diapering means cloth wipes. Rather then buying some, I cut up our previously used flannel receiving blankets into 8"x8" squares & hemmed the edges. I ended up with about 10 dozen, which is enough to last between washes. I keep the wipes in a reusable wipes container & use a squirt bottle with solution when wippin' is a needed. The solution is water with a few drops of peppermint scented Dr. Bronner's soap.
Our hodge podge of wipes.
Since I used whatever thread I had on hand, most of the wipes have contrast stitching.
I sure got two super cute booties!

Belt for Baby

Emilio needed a belt for his baptism shorts.
I wasn't even try go shopping to look for a white belt for a 4-month old. I had a hard enough time searching for a pair of white shorts. So i made one. It probably took me all of 10-minutes & cost less than $5. I think I see many more homemade kids belts in our future.
Here's Emilio at his baptism. You can't see the belt, but it was doing it's job; holding his pants up!

Gammy is a Totin'

I made a tote bag for my mom for her birthday.
The pattern is a bit different on each side. Showing off my So Annie Banannie yellow tag.
I think it turned out pretty well.

Apple T

Lucia really likes the Apple Tree finger play we do. So when i cam across this cute polka-a-dot apple patch I thought it would be perfect on a little T-shirt for her.
I started with a plain basic T.
An iron-on patch.
PRESTO!
A new apple shirt for my girl.
I think she likes it!

Toodee Transformation

Lucia's favorite shirt is her Toodee shirt.
Whenever she picks out her clothes & this shirt is in the drawer, guaranteed it's the one she chooses. Throughout the Spring the Toodee shirt kept getting shorter & shorter on her, to the point where it was starting to look a little silly.
So I decided to transform the shirt into something she can always have.
Front of shirt.
Back of shirt.
The Toodee shirt transformed into a pillow.
Front of pillow.
Back of pillow.
It took me about half a nap time to complete.
Looking at the finished product I maybe should have rounded the corners instead of squaring them. Oh well.
I surprised Lucia & gave it to her when I went to get her up from her nap.

I am so happy she likes it so much. She's been bebopin' around with it since she got it.

Krinkle Krinkle Wooby

A Krinkle Krinkle Wooby.
Red fleece with different black, red & white patterned ribbons. The ribbons vary slightly in widths & texture. Cellophane is sewed inside for that krinkle babies love.
All my friends with babies or that are expecting, watch out . . . a krinkle krinkle wooby just might be headed your way . . . if I can pull them away from Emilio that is!
